Experience an exciting combination of Tanzanian safaris and Zanzibar. Take in the wonders of the amazing Ngorongoro Crater, Arusha National Park, the world famous Serengeti National Park, and the tree climbing lions of Lake Manyara all before ending up on the exotic island of Zanzibar. You’ll be living the high life in comfortable accommodation deep in the bush, staying in large rooms with private verandahs and full en-suite facilities, as well as small lodges, such as the fabulous lodge located on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater. After it all, you’ll unwind on the white sands of Zanzibar. You’ll be amazed by all that Tanzania has to offer!

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival – Arusha

On arriving Kilimanjaro international airport in Tanzania, our guide will meet you and drive you to The Arusha Hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2Arusha – Tarangire National park

Breakfast at your hotel followed by a briefing session on the tour program with Asili Adventure Safaris tour guide. Depart Arusha town and drive into Tarangire National Park to arrive in good time for lunch, Afternoon game drives followed by dinner and overnight stat at Sangaiwe Tented Lodge.

Tarangire park offers wide panoramas of open acacia woodland and grass savanna, where huge herds of Elephants (often two hundred strong) and other unique residents, such as fringe-eared Oryx and Lesser Kudu roam free, Lion, Cheetah and Leopard. Dinner and overnight at Sangaiwe Tented Lodge.

Day 3Drive Tarangire –Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge

Breakfast then proceed to Serengeti National Park passing through Ngorongoro Conservation Malanja Depression towards Olduvai Gorge. This desert like gorge lies at the foot of the Ngorongoro highlands and is world-renowned site as a repository for the remains of vast numbers of animals that roamed these plains years ago.

We will visit the museum featuring the famous Zinj skull, the Zinjanthropus men of 1.8 million years ago, whose remaining were found here by Dr. Leakey. We proceed to Serengeti national park for a full afternoon gamedrives with picnic lunches. Dinner and overnight stay at Shuhudia Adventure Camp located in Seronera area.

Day 4 - 5Serengeti National park

Full days spent exploring the park. Morning and afternoon game drives are offered.  Serengeti is Africa’s most famous and Tanzania’s largest park covering 14,736 sq km and is adjoining with the Masai Mara National reserve in Kenya.

With a wildebeest population of about 2 million and several other hoofed species (which include zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, impala, topi, Grants gazelle, Kongoni, Eland, Kirk’s dik dik, klipspringer, roan, Oryx, oribi, waterbuck, buffalo, giraffe and warthog), the Serengeti is sure to attract a string of prey such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, golden jackals and bat eared foxes. Elephants are relatively scarce and the few remaining black rhinoceros are restricted to the Moru Koppies area. Dinner and overnight stay at Shuhudia Adventure Camp.

Day 6Drive Serengeti to Ngorongoro

We view game as we drive southeast up into the magnificent Ngorongoro Conservation. Full afternoon crater tour followed by dinner and overnight stay at a lodge Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge by the crater rim.

The Ngorongoro crater is the world’s biggest whole volcanic caldera at 8300 sq km and is arguably the most stunning arena. It is frequently described as one of the wonders of the world, not only because of its geological magnificence, but also because it serves as an extraordinary natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s largest populations of large mammals. Ngorongoro and other freestanding mountains are volcanic in origin, formed during the fracturing process that created the Rift valley 15 to 20 million years ago. When it peaked in size 3 million years ago it was a similar height to Mt. Kilimanjaro today. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge.

Day 7Drive Ngorongoro – Lake Manyara National park

Depart the lodge soon after breakfast and proceed to Lake Manyara national park for a full afternoon game drives with packed lunch.

Lake Manyara is a shallow, alkaline lake that is part of the Rift Valley wall; the lake is at the base of this dramatic western escarpment giving it a beautiful and serene setting. In addition to this peaceful setting, Lake Manyara’s main attractions are its rich bird life, tree climbing lions and its hippos, which you can see at a closer range than many other places. Lake Manyara also hosts thousands of flamingos at certain times of the year and has diverse vegetation ranging from savannah, to marshes and acacia woodland, enabling a variety of wildlife habitats including butterflies. Dinner and overnight stay at Isoitok Tented Camp.

Day 8 Lake Manyara – Zanzibar

Breakfast at leisure then proceed to Arusha town where you take lunch before proceeding to Kilimanjaro airport to board your afternoon flight to Zanzibar. On arriving Zanzibar, our representative will meet you and drive you to Neptune Pwani Beach Resort to start your beach holiday.
